Texas homeowners are entitled to a homestead exemption to discount the property taxes you’ll owe on your primary residence.  If you moved to Crystal Falls in 2018 or haven’t previously applied for an exemption, now’s the time to file.

You can apply between January 1 and April 30 if you owned and occupied your Crystal Falls home as your principal residence on January 1.

Homestead Exemption Forms
Use the appropriate exemption form below, based on whether your address is located within the Travis or Williamson County sections of the neighborhood:

Do all homes qualify for Homestead Exemptions?
No, only a homeowner’s principal residence qualifies. Your home must be owned by an individual (not a business) and you must use the home as your primary residence on January 1 of the tax year. The exception is if you’re age 65 or older or disabled; the January 1 ownership and residency requirement do not apply for the age 65 or disabled homestead exemption.

You should get your preliminary assessment by mail in May or June. If you need help protesting your tax value, contact us. We can provide a list of recent homes sold in Crystal Falls to help you prepare.
